Context window
What is Context window?
The maximum amount of text an LLM can process in a single conversation or request. Content outside the context window is not visible to the model.
Example in practice
An analyst trying to summarise a 200-page report in one prompt would hit the context window limit of a smaller model, requiring them to split the document into chunks or use a long-context model like Claude 3.
