Context
What is Context?
In LLM usage, the full text of the conversation or document that the model has access to, including prior messages and any system prompt. What is "in context" determines what the model can reference when generating a response.
Example in practice
A project manager pasting a full project brief into the chat before asking for a risk summary is loading the relevant context — the model can only reference what is explicitly included.
