Is an Deliberate Academy certificate respected by employers?
- Deliberate Academy certificates are designed for professional credibility. Each certificate has a unique ID and a public verification URL that anyone can access without an account. Employers, recruiters, and clients can verify a certificate independently by visiting the verification page — they do not need to trust Deliberate Academy or contact us. The exam is server-graded, correct answers are never exposed to learners, and the pass threshold is 75%. We cannot guarantee any specific employer will value the certificate, but it is a genuinely earned, independently verifiable credential you can add to your LinkedIn and reference in proposals.
How long does a course take to complete?
- Courses on Deliberate Academy take 2–5 hours to complete, depending on the course. Most professional learners complete a course in two to four sittings across a few days. All content is text-based — no video to scrub through — so you can read at your own pace. There are no deadlines and no time pressure on the lessons themselves. Time pressure only applies once you begin the exam.
What happens if I fail the exam?
- You have a maximum of three exam attempts per course. If you fail, you will see your score and, after all attempts are exhausted, detailed explanations of the correct answers. After a failed attempt, we recommend reviewing the relevant lessons before retrying. There is no waiting period between attempts. If you use all three attempts without passing, your exam for that course closes. Your lesson progress is preserved and you can continue reading the course materials at any time.
Can I retake the exam if I want a higher score?
- No. Once you have passed an exam, it is considered complete and your certificate is issued. You cannot retake a passed exam to improve your score. This is intentional — the certificate represents passing a genuine assessment, not a perfect score. Your certificate does not display your score; it confirms that you passed.
How do employers verify my certificate?
- Every certificate has a unique certificate ID printed on it and displayed on your certificate page. Share the verification URL — formatted as deliberateacademy.com/verify/[your-certificate-id] — with anyone who wants to confirm it is genuine. The verification page is publicly accessible without an account and displays your name, the course title, the certificate title, and the date issued. It does not reveal your exam score. If a certificate has been revoked, the page will clearly indicate this. You can also share your certificate page directly from your dashboard.
Is Deliberate Academy really free?
- Yes, completely. Every course, every exam attempt, and every certificate is free. There is no paywall and no credit card required to read a lesson, sit an exam, or earn a certificate — and that never changes. Deliberate Academy is funded by non-intrusive display advertising shown across the site, including lesson pages, your dashboard, and the exam prep and result screens, plus an optional ad-free subscription for learners who would rather pay a small fee than see ads. That subscription only removes ads; it does not unlock any course, exam, or certificate that is not already free. The one screen we keep deliberately ad-free is the timed exam itself — while a countdown is running on a scored assessment, nothing should compete for your attention. The certificate is a real, server-graded credential — it is not free in the sense of being low quality. It is free because we believe demonstrating AI competency should not require paying anything.
Do I need an account to read the lessons?
- No. All lesson content is publicly accessible without an account. You can read every lesson in every course freely. An account is only required if you want to track your progress, take the exam, or earn a certificate. Creating an account is also free and takes under a minute.
How are the exams structured?
- Every exam is multiple-choice, and some courses add short-answer questions on top, with a time limit (25–75 minutes) and a 75% pass mark. Questions are written around the course material and applied scenarios rather than simple recall of specific phrases. The exam is graded server-side. Correct answers and answer keys are never sent to the browser, so they cannot be recovered by inspecting network traffic. You have three attempts per course.
Will my certificate expire?
- No. Certificates do not expire. Once issued, your certificate is permanent unless revoked for academic dishonesty. The verification page will remain accessible indefinitely. AI is a fast-moving field — the knowledge you certified may evolve — but your certificate will always show the date it was issued, which provides context for employers and clients.
Can I add my certificate to LinkedIn?
- Yes. Your certificate page includes a direct "Add to LinkedIn" link that pre-fills the certification details in your LinkedIn profile: the certificate name, the issuing organisation (Deliberate Academy), the issue date, and a credential URL linking to the verification page. It takes one click from your dashboard or certificate page.
How are the courses organised?
- Courses sit in one of three stages rather than carrying a difficulty label. Foundation courses are the cross-profession starting point and assume no prior AI knowledge — AI Fundamentals for Professionals and Prompt Engineering for Business are both Foundation. Core Skills courses are the profession-specific ones, such as AI for Finance, AI for HR, or AI for Marketing; they assume domain knowledge in your field but no AI background. Specializations go deeper on a single area for people who have already completed the Core Skills course beneath them — AI for Audit and Assurance builds on AI for Accountants, for example. Every course page shows its lesson count and estimated hours so you can judge the commitment directly.
Are more courses being added?
- Yes. Deliberate Academy is actively expanding its course library. New courses are added regularly across professional domains. If you create an account, you will receive an email when new courses you might be interested in are published. You can also check the courses page at any time — all published courses are listed there.
Can I use AI tools during the exam?
- We do not technically prevent you from using AI tools during the exam, but we strongly advise against it. The certificate is meant to reflect what you can do on your own, and the short-answer questions are written to require your own reasoning about the course material rather than a definition an AI tool could produce from the question text alone. If you rely on AI to pass, you will not retain the knowledge the certificate is supposed to represent, which undermines the value of the credential for your own development and career.
